There will be an opportunity to mix and mingle during each day of the conference. The Awards Ceremony and two main Virtual Exhibit Hall & Networking sessions will be open to conference attendees and the public. Other opportunities are exclusive to registered conference attendees.

DNJ and its partner, NJTOD.org, would like to hear from you!
We will be conducting short (20min or less) video interviews.Let us know about your work promoting New Jersey’s downtowns. We are interested in places, programs, and activities that helped promote and develop downtowns.We are especially interested in efforts that incorporate transit-oriented development (TOD) principles. Or talk to us about the issues affecting NJ’s downtowns and TOD in the state, such as:
  • Accessibility
  • Affordability & Equity
  • Amenities &/or Programming
  • Connectivity within & beyond the TOD area
  • Environmental Conditions
  • Funding
  • Parking
  • Planning
  • Public Engagement & Support
  • Retail — during COVID and beyond

Past Event - Tuesday, January 19th

The first day of the conference was dedicated to economic recovery, including a welcome from Governor Murphy, keynote address by Strong Town’s Chuck Mahorn, and a panel of economic development experts. The afternoon also included an opportunity to network with colleagues.

Past Events - Thursday, January 21st

The second day of the conference was all about place & space. The day’s sessions included experts ready to discuss downtown district placemaking and retail design strategies to make visitors feel welcome and safe. We also celebrated excellent placemaking inititives during a brief awards ceremony. The afternoon also included an opportunity to network with colleagues, and join a virtual tour and happy hour.
